Pepe LePew (7a+) My first ever FA. Brian Tickle organized the route development mentorship weekend at Ink’s Ranch. Spent the weekend with Mike Klein and Glenda. Bolted a short slab boulder to the left of Mike’s Barking Spiders. Got the second ascent of Barking Spiders after belaying Mike on it. There was a skunk under the belay hence the name for the route. High first bolt necessary due to a really thin first set of moves to the first clipping stance. Unfortunately I think the technical crux is establishing on the wall. Credit card crimp and crystal pulling to stab a right toe on. Boulder problem below B1. Thin technical climbing to the anchors. Scope fit out all day Saturday and put in the anchors. Sunday morning I bolted it in the rain. Mike and I ate lunch in the parking lot and waited for the wind to dry things out. Came back and sussed out the top on TR and ticked up the holds. Belated Mike on the FA of barking spiders and then sent Pepe first red point attempt.
