A hétvége számos megmászást tartogatott magyarhonban. Kő-árokban Izer a harmadik megmászását könyvelhette el a Szent Péter esernyője 8a-útnak. Pár sor az átlelkesült kommentből: Nincsenek szavak arra az érzésre amit most érzek. Nagyon sok év hosszú projektje, végtelen idő ment el a béta kitalálására. Decemberben a kunsztot egy üléssel át tudtam mászni, de egyben nem volt esély. A lépések annyira kicsik voltak, hogy nem tudtam a 4 számmal kisebb Pythonban megcsinálni, úgyhogy a stabilabb lépés érdekében vettem egy a lábamnál 6 számmal kisebb Cobrát. Ezt egy évbe került kitágítani(és tatni kösz robi) úgy hogy ne kopjon el. Ezt a napot sosem felejtem el... A vasárnapi eső ellenére a hazalátogatott Nándi nem volt tétlen és talált is olyan holtkórost aki kicsábítható ilyen időben is boulderezni. Egy motivált csöpögős csapatás alatt Nándi 4. megmászója lett a Tripla élvezet 8A nehézségű bouldernek. Edzésképpen (és a kamera kedvéért) megmászta többször is, megmutatva a hitetleneknek a 8B erőt. Az elmúlt hetekben is értek a babérok, 8A First Ascent Spitzen a stílusos Burden of Dreams néven, és 7C flash. Nándinak lassan ez a standard. De külföldön is történtek a dolgok. A reibungos befejezésekkel megbarátkozva Barabás Gábor megmászta a Thai city nevű 8a-t, ami Gabo 36. 8a feletti útja, de ha jól sejtem idén jelentősen bővülni fog ez a lista. Grat maan, yamannn!

The Azur window in Malta has collapsed with some 20 bolted routes in the Mediterranean. The authorities were aware of that the arch was at risk but you were still allowed to walk over the bridge and climb on it. Yesterday, in a big storm, the whole arch collapsed and has sunk in the sea. Stevie Haston has the full story.

"Ak máte už dosť vápencových oblastí južnej Európy a hľadáte niečo úplne iné, Rudawy Janowickie sú perfektným miestom na návštevu. Región Rudawy sa nachádza v južnom Sliezsku. Žulové skaly vysoké aj 140 metrov sú rozmiestnené v krásnych údoliach a na úpätiach hôr a sú poschovávané v hlbokom lese. Prevažuje tradičné lezenie po vlastnom, no nájde sa aj niekoľko ciest odistených nitmi či kruhmi (cca 250). Rozmanitosť miestnej žuly ponúka príležitosť liezť na rôznych skalných útvaroch. Máme špáry rôznych šírok, položené platne, lezenie po oblých lištách či ploché platne, v ktorých treba vedieť liezť po malých lištách. Štýl lezenia je pomerne technický a často vyžaduje nižšie teploty, preto je ideálnym časom na návštevu skorá jar alebo jeseň. Niektoré skaly sa nachádzajú vo väčšej vzdialenosti od parkovísk a môže zabrať dlhší čas, kým ich človek nájde. Práve z tohto dôvodu však nie sú preplnené. Obtiažnosti sa pohybujú od 3 až po 8b a nachádza sa tu viac ako 1000 ciest a stovky bouldrov."

Kuba Hudomięt has helped us with some info in regards Rudawy in Poland where you can climb the unique pillar Szczytowanie twe zadanie 6a. "If you are tired of the limestone cliffs of Southern Europe and you’re looking for something completely different, Rudawy Janowickie is a perfect place to visit. This is a region situated in the southern part of the Polish Lower Silesia. Granite rocks (about 140) are scattered in the picturesque mountain slopes and valleys among dense forests. They offer mostly traditional climbing, but you can also find the routes with bolts/rings (about 250). The local granite gives you the opportunity to climb on various formations. You will find here different width cracks, slabs, rounded edges and vertical panels that require the skills of climbing small crimps. The climbing is very technical and often requires lower temperatures, so it is best to come here in the early spring or fall. Some of the rocks are quite far from the parking spaces so you need a little more time to find them. Because of that, they are not crowded. You can climb on any difficulty: from III to 8b. There are more than 1,000 routes and hundreds of boulders that have been established."

Itziar Zabala (22) has an untypical background. She is possibly the first woman ever to jump from 7C+ to 8A+. And that has happened in the late 2016 with Solaris 8A+ in Baltzola, Spain, which had a FFA by legendary Josune Beraziartu in 2003, first woman to climb 9a/a+. The problem was established ages ago and always has been a solid 8A+, sent by many of the best climbers of Spain. Note that also Itziar did her first 8a route when she was 15 years old. After Solaris, she did also her first 8A's few weeks ago, Harrobi and Atreyu both in Albarracín, Spain. What was your hardest problem sent before Solaris? I used to climb indoors a lot; comps and I just have done easier grades up to 7C+. Do you follow any training program and what is your project for 2017? Last year I trained a lot in the local gym with a training program, but nowadays I haven't trained in the last 6 months, just climbing outdoors. Projects? Just travel and climb!

Michaela Kiersch, who did an 8c+ last Sunday in Red Rriver Gorge, is setting new standards by doing two this weekend: Southern Smoke and Fifty Words for Pump in a total of ten goes. To make the story even more impressive, it is a seven hour drive from Chicago to Red River Gorge, where she trains a competitive group five times a week.
