Winner Mascarenas - Just climbing but no China WC

Megan Mascarenas (17) got a great sensational and superior win in the Vail Boulder WC and her background is mainly just bouldering on a small wall. - It took a couple tries to gain the right experience and knowledge for how to do these comps. I learned the importance of overall fitness and health, and also how to be more efficient during the two day, three session style of comp which helped me the most! Eating right, drinking plenty of water, sleep etc taking long walks with the dog to get some cardio. History: I started when I was 2 yrs old and I spend most of my time climbing with friends from the gym or at my coach Kevin Branford's home wall we call "the pit". Background: This was my forth WC. I got 4th last year in Vail. I have won several youth nationals for bouldering and one for sport, my hardest outdoor send is Temper Tantrum, 8A+ (I flashed the stand 8A). Training: I climb 4 or 5 days a week, with the main focus on just plain old climbing. I don't do much else besides basic push-ups pull-ups core stuff. I truly think climbing is the most important part of training. Future: I am not planning on going to China this year, but I will be going to German with my friend to compete in the championship! I do plan on doing the full circuit in the near future though! Other than that my only summer plans are to get outside climbing more and hopefully go camping! Where I am right now always seemed like the end goal for me, but now I feel like it is just the start and that is a great thought to look forward too!
