Please go back to old 8a

i don't know one person that thinks its better.

8a. nu new face is completely messy and has lost its main goal.

Can somebody tell me, how view a crag and all routes of this crags?

I Agree, this new version is really terrible!

Let's see 8a.nu be brave and humble and listen to their users - put a poll on the main page...old site vs new site

hi there, sorry to hear the new update isnt to your liking. The truth is there is virtually nothing we can do about the old website, the infrastructure collapsed daily and was unsustainable for us to maintain. in all honesty the rebuild wasnt a choice it was a matter of necessity. we're a small team doing our best to rebuild a site developed over the course of 20+ years and with your help we hope to restore the old features of 8a and improve the experience for you.

Thank you for the reply. The crux of most users' irritation I'm sure and I'm including myself lies in exactly the phrase you used: "restore the old features of 8a". Please start there first, don't just remove functions arbitrarily, at least make it like it used to be but stable with all the functions it used to have, and only then dress it up to look better and add new features (if they are useful). The new site should not have been launched until it was ready but since that ship seems to have sailed, here's couple of suggestions: 1)FIX THE ENTER/SPACE BUTTON!!! So many people have commented on this! 2) On a very large number of climbs the function to click on the name of the climb and see who was climbed it, see their comments, etc is still not working. 3) Is such an elaborate number of steps to log a climb really necessary? Name, grade, area, soft/hard, style, FA, date and comment as per previous seemed to work just fine, no one was complaining. And you could do 3 at a time. 4) And this is a personal note but I think that whoever is in charge now at 8a.nu (Jens still around? he's been very quiet throughout this website fiasco) could do a lot of damage control by issuing a statement and be honest on what happened, what went wrong and what's being done to fix it. With some target dates? Also how do we as users know what features are being restored and which not, maybe some feedback via the main page? The reality is that 8a.nu is in real danger if a competitor figures out a quick and reliable way to transfer personal scorecard information, which let's face it is the main reason most of us use the site, no one really comes here for the news. Hope that your team figures it out. Cheers

Have you seen this? (;

https://www.thecrag.com/en/article/export8a

There's also obviously the ability to import such CSV file into your account on TheCrag and - voilà! (;

Useful even if you don't plan to move to TheCrag (which is superior to 8a.nu IMHO) - it's always better to actually have the backup of the data you entered here.

I started using 8a around 1998. I think I am done. It's borderline unusable now. Basically impossible to use for anything useful.

Freddie, Thanks! That export is super helpful. My 20+ years of data is freed. That link is gold.

Honestly I think the change was great! Know a lot of people who stopped using it years back because they couldn't stand the old site but are getting back into it now because of the update.
