Lost "one hang" utilitie and now transformed old in red point

I only had one route of 7B (5.12a) in red point but also i had 5 with "one hand" (climb to the top with only one fall that were no ranked.

Now in my logbook i have 6 routes 7B (5.12a) in red point because "one hand" option was deleted and the old "one hand" attemps were transform to red point!!

This is a bug that will be fixed.

Hello Jens

it´s nice to meet you. i really like your old website. Now i'm thinking that you too but you need time to make all the restructuration and it will be best than the old. I'm nervous thinking that i can lost this tool. Please don't forget the utilitie "advanced search" i'm loving it. Thanks for your work :)

I think it's more likely that the spam/scam posts are real, than for VL to be able to fix this this screw up of a site. A lot of the bugs that were reported months ago were released. The VL mobile application has a horrific user experience. VL is not able or not willing to create something decent. Either way it seems like the death of 8a.

I don't know how Jens feels about this, or if he has any say at all. Since VL probably bought the whole site years ago. So now he can just relay empty promises of a bright future, which will never happen.People complain because, this is very sad for the climbing community.

@Endre Verden: well, for me - and I dare to say that for most users - the major strength of 8a was the database, as everything else was broken beyond repair. As long as the search for routes/ascents was pretty advanced amd you had this huge database of ascents it was "good enough" to be usable. Now with the advanced search gone, the database is almost unaccessible and the restructurization they did behind the scenes just made things even worse. Previously with a bit of clever conditions you could see the ascents of route even if the name was slightly miss-spelled (common for languages with special characters like Polish with its ęóąśłżźćń). Now - not possible. If I would like to check the ascents of a route like "Miłość w windzie" in Podlesice, then I would have to browse through SEVENTEEN routes to see them, because the "fixed" database has this single route as SEVENTEEN separate ones. Ridiculous. (I wanted to make a new paragraph here, but the "new" and "improved" forum doesn't allow me to do that... Ridiculous...) However there's a proverbial phrase in Poland, which can be roughly translated to "life can't stand the void/vacuum", so most likely we'll all soon or later meet on a different platform, which will eventually rise to be the new leader. I already saw your posts on theCrag and this is where I've moved all my ascents already (their 8a.nu exporter and CSV importer work very well [; try it so you won't have to move the ascents one by one!), which is very good, as I think theCrag is technically and "ideologistically" superior to 8a.nu (they are very open and very transparent) - it just lacks users and ascents (;

@Freddie Chopin: Absolutely the power of 8a, is the huge data base and community and several of the basic features it had were quite nice. The biggest problem with the old site was the errors. It would be good to modernize it, but this is not modernization, this is just a mess.

You can make a paragraph, but it ends up above the text not below, haha.

I just write in notepad/word and copy, paste the text.

You are correct I'm checking out TheCrag, I haven't decided to make the switch yet, or just use Excel (small community, at least nobody are stating soft on all my ticks :P). But I'm not adding anything more onto this site, before it works like 8a and not like VL. And again I don't really think they want or are capable of that :/

"And again I don't really think they want or are capable of that :/" - but you already noted that most (all?) the bugs reported during the beta-tests of this "new & improved" version were simply ignored and released as-is. Sure, Jens says that this will all be fixed "very soon", "this week" or whatever, but the new version was supposed to be published like 3 or 5 years ago (if my memory serves me right), so why should the "fixes" be any faster? Or actually why would they be "fixes" at all, given how much "better" the new 8a.nu is compared to the previous one. I'm sure that most people would be willing to bet a lot of cash that you cannot make anything more broken than old 8a.nu and here we are now - dazed and confused (;

VENGA! :D
