Better average grade stats

Most statistics on the logbook are useful, but the average grade isn't, because it counts all your routes. Especially if you log your warm ups, or do some easy climbing days with lower grade friends, the average grade tends to be quite low. This way it doesn't tell you anything about your performance or progress.

It would be much more helpful to see your average onsight grade and the average redpoint grade, both counting only the 10 best sends in that style. Similar to how it works with the scores. This would then be a useful statistic that you might want to track (and plot in a graph) over the years.

Hi Mic, the stats are definitely on the list of things to improve. I agree that the average grade is mostly a function of what spectrum of grades you choose to log, rather than how hard you climb on average. I'm not sure if a redpoint score (top 10 redpoints in last 12 m.) and an onsight score (top 10 onsights&flashes in last 12 m.) would give a better indication than a grade average of those ascents? If you have any other suggestions for profile stats, please post :-) cheers

Using scores you would essentially show the same information, but since the original stat was showing a grade (not a score) and the scores are mostly necessary to aggregate performance over different styles, to show only a single style (say OS) you could also just show the grade. I checked to see if it was already there in some form, but the current trend lines per style are not using the 10 best ascents, but rather show the volume you've done in this style. For other suggestions: I like the score method, but I do always convert them in my head to grades (~9000 = 7a+ OS or 7c RP), so maybe it's nice to show these converted grades somewhere. Could even be in a mouseover on the scores so it doesn't need extra space.
