I am planing to go in spain for the month of january and febuary and i need a litle help to decide where to go . My plan was to go around Barcelona (suriana) but i have been told that it can be cold and wet .anyone know where it would be better climbing weather (6a to 8a)and if its possible to climb in suriana . thanks all! joel
hi, maybe if you're lucky you can climb in siurana, but usually the weather in this season is often cold and wet, it's possible to climb nearby Lleida, only 150 km. from Barcelona, there is where i live, and there's a lot of areas to climb in winter, if you want to contact with me, you can do it in this e-mail, i have time and car... I lived from late december to late march in olessa de montserrat and went to climb at least 3 times a week. Often you got to choose the sunny side, but on one day in march, it was already too hot (!) to climb at garraf/ barcelona close to the sea. Anyway if it rains around barcelona/ monterrat you can be luky at the costa daurada siurana/ montsant/ ... Only one hour drive away and a bit hotter and often different climat. In 1 hours drive from barcelona you can reach climbs for a lifetime. And if you like longer pitches try to visit terradets (an amazing 500m steep limestone wall) or villanova de meillat close to it (not far from lleida) with amazing limestone too.
