Hey guys, I am currently travelling for the next 12 months, starting in China and will be heading to Europe as well. Basically, I am just wondering what are some of the best ways to get in contact with locals when I'm travelling around the world and wanting to climb? My thoughts so far are: Couchsurfing, 8a and a website called climbfind.com (however it does not receive a whole lot of traffic). Basically climbfind sums up exactly what I am asking, but it really does not have much going for it, it looks old and outdated and rarely used. What are your thoughts on it? And is there a better database to get in touch with locals all around the world? I probably think couchsurfing is the way to go. Interested to hear your thoughts.
You can also use Facebook using the graph search feature. You can search for something like: "People who live in Margalef, Cataluna, Spain and who like Climbing" Other than that, you can also try rockclimbing.com and mountainproject.com.
