Hello all, I live in Ottawa, Canada. Our local gear shop (MEC) had recently received a shipment of very unsatisfactory Metolius superchalk. The chalk is significantly different from what I and everyone else has been used to over the past many years. Its consistancy is off, very gritty and it does not coat your hands properly if at all. Some local climbers have attenpted to contact Metolius about this and have received the following response: We have had some less than great Superchalk of late and have taken steps at our factory in China to fix the problem. Management of the moisture content has been an issue but we are expecting the next batch to be back to the good old stuff. Metolius Customer Service Metolious apparently was aware of this problem but still shipped and sold orders anyway.... im my opinion this in unacceptable and not what i expected from a manufacturer whom I have trusted for over a decade. I am wondering if other areas have been shipped this "garbage" chalk as well? Or if anyone else has noticed the problem?
I was going to switch from yeti to the superchalk because i've heard a couple of my climbing buddies highly recommending it. Obviously with the chalk in its current form I will be more than happy to stay with yeti.

I work at a gym in FL and we have received a few boxes of this garbage chalk...I agree that it doesn't work nearly as well as the old formula, and it's ridiculous that Metolius would still send it out knowing it was not up to par...that said, they may have found out after it being shipped, but that still doesn't mean I should have to pay full price for a product that is not what I have come to expect after years of use. Actually makes me glad that's the only Metolius product I own, but not anymore until I hear of it getting better again...
my most recent bag was unusable, it was like baby powder (it was regular superchalk, not the fine grind...but that stuff sucks too) and wouldn't stick to my hands. so maybe just the opposite of the problems others are saying?
As of about two YEARS ago I bought two or three bags of this wet superchalk and decided I would simply switch to another brand. I find it absolutely ridiculous that this problem still hasn't been solved, and I will never buy any products from a company (Metolius) that simply doesn't care about it's consumers and thinks we will buy their inferior product.
