Hey, since I've usually only climbed in Norway and Italy, I have not had any problems converting grades. In most guidebooks the grades are written with both Norwegian and French grades, so I logged my ascents at 8a in French grades. However now I'm in Canada and have some problems when I want to log my ascents. The conversion table at 8a.nu starts at 5.10a : ...could you extend it also to the lower grades? Not everyone climb 8a. If I try to use the chart on Wikipedia instead, in combination with a chart I found on adrenaline.no but which was very similar, then it does not follow the 8a chart at all. Try for example to convert the grades 5.8, 5.9 and 5.10a into french grades and see what you end up with. In addition, apparently the Canadian climbers in this region do not follow any of these charts - some of them log 5.10a as 5b. So I don't really have a clue any more. I know grade conversion is not easy, and that I should not care at all since I only compete with myself. But since I'm trying to log my ascents at 8a I will have to convert the grades in some way - and it would be nice to have only one conversion chart instead of trying to mix up these charts which don't correspond (at least not in the area around 5.7 to 5.11c). Cheers

It's pretty much in line with all of the grades I've found in Canada, compared to the registered ascents in the 8a database.
Alternatively, you can search the database and see if anyone has registered the ascents, and what they registered them as...
You also have the option of grading it how you feel based on your experience, and doing the conversion from your native grading system.. for instance I'm currently climbing in New Zealand, which grades in the Ewbank system, but I still think of the climbs in my own head in YDS...
What area are you climbing in?
Thank you! That chart seems to agree with the 8a chart. I'm in Fredericton (NB) and the largest crag here is Welsford. It feels like it doesn't really fit with the grading at home though; here I'm struggling hard to redpoint 5.8 and 5.9 while at home I'm usually onsighting 6a (which compares to 5.10a in that chart) or redpointing 6c (5.11a). Maybe I'm just in bad shape...
