Is there going to be a ranking for traditional ascents of routes as well? Alan Moore recently sent 2 more hard cracks (though not as hard as fathers day) without the use of bolts, and placed his gear on lead - that's encouraging
the problem is, you rarely know when reading about such ascents if the gear was preplaced and the route was pinkpointed, which effectively makes little difference from clipping bolts. the true trad definition, and the only one that has any meaning really, is the one where all the gear is placed on the lead during the actual redpoint, and not preplaced and left over from previous attempts.
In the near future we will have a separate category how traditional ascents will be registred and given some bonus. A trad ascent is an ascent without pre-placed gear! If it's pre-placed than it's sportclimbing.
