Staying in Fontainebleau

Hey all together! I'd like to stay in Fontainebleau for a few month this winter and spring. So I'm searching for a cheap place to stay, does anybody know good places? It would be also good to have maybe a job in a hotel or chite to get to stay for free, does anybody know about that? cheers Stephan
Hi, I met a british guy who stayed in bleau for a couple of months. he was there by bike and tent, stayed for free on the biwac place close to the horse running. but: no water, no toilet, nothing! he needed to take his bike to go shopping or bouldering. hard to say if you can get a place to stay for free working a bit. winter and spring time is'nt actualy their best tourist season, except for bouldering of course ;-). by the way, I guess you would need some french for working there.

year, I heared about that place but I don't wanna let all my stuff in the car since font is not really a safe place. anybody some tips?
The bivoc is actually pretty safe since its right next to the Forestry Ranger and the road is not used to frequently other then for the horse shows, we stay there for months on end without any problems at all. otherwise try looking up Gits, apparently they are pretty cheap?

year but I'm alone so there is no way I can get a cheap gite. were exactly is the bivoc? is it ok to let the tent up the hole time?
Fair enough! If you take the N6 out of font and follow the signs for Hippodrome De La Solle, its about 3kms out of font and you will turn to the left, youll see the race course on your right and a large cleared space on the left with a small wooden fence around it. Thats it! they say a 2 week limit but if you clean up after yourself no one checks or would say anything, we have been there for 2 months already, and leave the tent all the time, as does everyone else so you would be fine. just take the usual precautions and dont leave valuables in the tent while you are gone, that kind of stuff!
I'll second the Hippodrome.  there is a bouldering sector within walking distance which is nice, although small.  Last I was there, and Im sure it hasnt changed, there was no water or toilets.  Best part about it is the rest day horse races!

There is another bivac just next to the small village of Bourron-Marlotte. It has a toilet and cold water.
Read somewhere that the bivac next to Bourron-Marlotte has been closed, anyone know if this is right?
