I just got my first pair of Sportiva Solution and i ordered them : eu 38 ( i use 41,5 eu in sneakers.. ) , The left foot is almost ok.. but the right is just insane.. argh .. the pain. The big question is .. do they expand .. and how much ? Or should i go for 38,5
Actually, is there any drawback in dipping/soaking the climbing shoes to obtain a better fit? I remember I wasn't advised to do so by at least a couple of people...
Dunno.. i dipped them yesterday and they feel better.. if you use hot water they will fall apart... :P .. Last time i had to soak shoes was in 1996.. lol when i got a way to small pair of Boreal lasers. The solution then was to buy them half a size bigger..so I guess i'll go for 38,5 next time.. :)
I actualy have a positive experience of dipping the shoes. These were 5.10 Rogue and lately Scarpa Feroce. It REALY helps! What i do is: The night before training boil some watet, then pour it into any ,like, basin or something )) and put your shoes (only shoes)) in. Do it for no more than 3 seconds as the water is too hot yet. Now take them out and stretch and bend them in hands. Repeat the "bathing procedure" and put them on to your feet. Now you can walk around a bit and help your shoes to take the shape of your feet (not vice versa as it was before)) Now leave them dry a bit. but NOT in front of any direct heating source. The next day bring them for training which will help to stretch them even better and you will notice a significant change. The Feroce has one potential problem when just out of the box - those straps that hug your heels do it very painfuly. After "bathing" my pair this problem gone just righ away and they didn't fall apart)) So to sum it all up - hot bath is a good treatment not only for tired climbers!
hmm.. what does your feet look like?? like 3 nr. difference.. is that normal for people?.. I got 1,5-2 differense and my big tow is kind of wierd looking, and my nails are not growing.. they just fall of when a new one is done underneat.
la sportiva i quite big for the size.. i remember i tried Miura in 37.5 EU and that was quite comfy. My 5.10 are usually 6.5 UK .. and btw my Solutions are quite ok now. Was out bouldering and there was no pain what so ever..
