Repeats in scorecards

What is the deal with people putting repeats in their scorecards? If you are using your scorecard as a log there is no way you are going to keep putting in a route you are doing laps on ten times or more. So it seems people only do this to boost their score? This seems pretty dumb to me. Is there an established protyocol for this?
I told Jens that you can add a repeat in 8a.nu the same way the first time added it. If the first time was onsight then the repeat can be onsight too, that doesn't make sense. Onsight only happens once. This is something I see in many scorecards, repeats that they put as onsights, it's really easy by adding a line or two of code to the web to avoid this.
The webmaster has a full time job and a very long lists of bugs. At this moment we think it is more important to continue to improve the Tick Lists and many, many other things. Thanks for reminding us :)
Why are you able to register flashes for the same problem again and again?  Shouldn't a repeat not be able to count as a flash?  There is one guy on here that has counted the flash of the same problem 9 times this year!  How is that fair?
That is of course not correct. However, at the moment the webmaster can not give prioritize to such minor things.
To say that you guys are too busy to fix it is one thing.  To deny it is another.  Do you really want me to stoop to the level of calling a member out on this thread just to prove it is possible?  Try it yourself.  You can reenter repeats as flashes/onsights and have them count towards your annual scorecard more than one time.
is it possible that some guys take this things to serious?. Of course it would be be nice to avoid faults in updating the scorecard by the use of the machine´s intelligence. But if someone wants to "tune" his scorecard he can do it anyway. 2 personal aspects  to that matter of counting repeats: a) For me as "old" weekend warrior it would be no fun to score only "new" ascents. Most quality and fun routes in my region I have climbed  many years before, so I would had only a quite small number of new routes or vacation routes to play with in this little game called scorecard. b) after a serious health problem without any climbing I now try to reclimb same of my  "old"  accomplishments -old routes become new projects in current shape (and sometimes it are retro - flashes after 5-10 years). In this process it is nice to have the scorecard (with repeats) for extra motivation (only sometimes there is a little bit frustration not to perform as my fitter and younger alter ego in "former" times, mostly it is funny and interesting to puzzle together the beta and experiences from 10 years ago and I´able to enjoy the  receycled challenges).
There's quite a difference from claiming a repeat every 5-10 years and claiming a repeat flash/onsight every couple months.
Repeats are reasonable on a yearly basis because it allows there to be a gauge of who is climbing strong or who isn't climbing strong, or who isn't climbing at all. If repeats are barred from registration, people who send most of the hardest routes in their area will be forced to spend a lot of time and money seeking out hard routes farther and farther away, making the rankings about a combination of time, money and ability; not just ability. -D
I have no problem with repeats.  It's repeat onsight/flashes that don't make sense.  That's like becoming a born-again-virgin.
I have a doubt. If I have been training a route on toprope and send it this way (and log it just as log-book - No score), when, in the future I send it as a redpoint I should mark the option "repeat" or not? because it'a the first time that I send it this way.
In this case, we do not think you should mar it as a repeat.
I have a suggestion that I don't know if it's possible, but I think it would be good to have the option of hiding repeated ascents in your scorecard, just the same way that there's a way of hiding tried ascents.
+1 It will be nice to be able to hide the repeated ascents. I don't repeat routes often but I just added one this year, more for me to remember, and I checked the option "log-book, no score" so it don't give me points. I think that every repeat on sport route climb should not give extra points. More, I on-sighted this route two years ago and I did it again on my first ascent this year. Is it still an on-sight, a retro-on-sight or whatever? Not a red-point neither so you can see how it can be confusing. A route should count once, my opinion.
