My brother and I are planning a 4month climbing trip and are looking into Turkey and Kalymnos as one of our options. We have been doing a bit of research but are battling to find information on camping in Kalymnos area... Anyone done a similar trip and have any advice/info? Thanks!!!
Hi Catherine,As far as I know there is no camping in Kalymnos. However if you stay a long time you can get very good prices for accomodation. I stay 2 month and I pay 6 euros/day which is almost the same price as the campground in Geyikbayiri in Turkey... Cheers
You don't need any transport in Kalymnos, allmost everything can be reached by foot. If you want you can rent a scooter which costs you about 8 EUR/day. There is a bus from port of Pothia to Massouri that is cheap (1-3 EUR, i don't remember). Have a good climbing trip!
Food around 10 euros for a dinner with drink and meal. You can cook for yourself for half of this but on the island the shops are pretty expensiveScooter are now more in 10-12 euros range but for most climbing sectors you can reach them by walk.Have a good trip !!
Hey just came back from Kalymnos, 10euros is for a dinner is in a nice restaurant, you can eat giros (similar to a kebab) for as little as 2.20eur. Scooter you can definitely rent it cheaper than 10eur (found a place for 9eur) if you rent it for longer period. Alternative is a bike which is about 5eur per day, but scooter is cheaper and quicker if it is 2 of you and some of the sectors are quite far away.
Kalymnos climbing and camping?
