i read an article on uk climbing about using creams and stuff... i used for 2 days, because my hands were painful and red.. and i went bouldering after those 2 days... the skin just got removed like never before... in 30 minutes of hard bouldering i had to tape 5 fingers.. it was never like that before, and it's because the cream made the outer skin very soft... i decided not to use any cream anymore... but someone told me about Climb On, i just want to see how many here have used it and worked
I started climbing a lot more in December and subsequently i was starting to loose a lot of skin and fast. A friend suggested 'Clime On!' and it worked really well, i find its good for repairing worn skin, not flappers or big damage but just the general wear and tear after a days climbing / bouldering. It does not make your hands soft, which is good otherwise you get the problem you mentioned about skin coming off too easily. I've ended up swearing by Climb On, if my hands are sore after a session i always put some 'climb on' on. It is quite pricey though, but its worth a shot if you ask me.
If you need new skin on your fingertips than i would say you should use: 1. "calendumed" to build up new skin. 2. then over night "antihydral", to make it harder thats my experience. I tried climb on because I got it for free and I haven`t seen any big difference between my right hand where I tested it and my left hand to see the normal recovery proces. The only difference was that my fingertips were softer, but nothing more.
@ Martin, but the Calendumed makes the skin soft, right? because it says: The cream is preferred for the inflammatory phase, whereas the ointment is more suitable for dry and worn skin.
I use Calendumed to get my skin back faster. it`s softer dan normal, but the time until you got your skin back is not so long. Gets back really quick. To make my skin harder (If I don`t have any skin left on my fingertips) is Antihydral. After a normal climbing day I use Calendumed. After a really hard climbing day I use Calendumed plus Antihydral (or a restday)

a german review of calendumed cream. I am using it for two weeks now, not sure if it really works or if I am just imagining.
there seems to be a difference between calendumed cream and calendumed salve, salve makes your skin soft, cream doesn't (as much).
is Climb on cream really good?
