Guidebook for Bolzano (Bozen), Italy

Hey RasmusJes,   I'm from Bolzano. The Guide you found is one of the few available guides for the main crags here in our region. It is only german, i know. There are some new ones, but also in German. You could look on www.climbaa.it where you'll find some topos but in italian. Or on www.bergtotal.com (in German again). But there are pichtures and maps where to find the crags... I don't know by now any guide in English...maybe there's none...

Thank you very much :) I do speak a little German, so I should probably just buy a German guide. You mention that there are a few other guides in German than the one in my link. Is there a specific one you can recommend? We will be staying close to Meran and are mostly interested in easy single pitch sport routes. The bergtotal site is also nice. Thanks for the link. Are there some areas you could recommend going to? When looking at bergtotal it seems that Bruneck is the nearest place to Meran which has sport climbing. Is there no sport climbing closer to Meran?

hi rasmus. the guide you found is pretty much the best you can find imo.  15-30min  around merano you'll find about 5-6 areas all in this guide. (and many more if you drive further) there is also quiet a beautiful new spot near 'partschins' "huafwond" wich you wont find in any guide atm. (amazing view) http://www.partschins.com/de/sport-abenteuer/klettergarten-huafwond.html if ur a little bit into bouldering i'd advice you to visit 'algund' (10min from merano) it is one of the biggest boulder areas here in southtyrol. best time in algund would be autumn to spring. enjoy ur time in the alps

Thank you very much :) Huafwond looks perfect :) The lift to go there seems a bit expensive though. Is it okay to just walk up there?

i guess it would take about 1-2 hours walk.. yes its quiet expensive but locals get discount and i tend to be quiet lazy .

Ok :) I'm going there with my girlfriend and her parents, so going by the lift might be a good idea so they're not completely wasted before we start climbing. Thanks a lot to both of you for great info.
