Has anyone had any problems with their replacement for the recalled grigri 2? I've used the replacement grigri 2 only for a couple climbing days, but noticed that I can hear a loud scraping noise as I lower my climber. THe noise sounds like a rope scraping over a sharp edge. I looked inside the plates and noticed very very small pieces of the rope sheath inside the device. I looked for the area on the device that had rope sliding over sharp metal. I found that the inside of the sliding plate had an overhanging sharp metal edge (closer to the brake hand) that rubs along the rope sheath as the rope travels from the right to left direction while lowering a climber. I noticed that the original grigri does not have that metal edge overhanging and touching the rope. Has anyone noticed this?

I've already contacted the email address you provided. That is how I obtained a replacement for the recalled grigri 2. My post can easily be misread. I apologize. I'll try to make it more clear. Grigri 2 recalled = model A . Grigri 2 replacement = model B . The post above on 7-16-11 is describing my concern for model B that has been corrected to prevent the internal damage leading to the handle becoming stuck in the open position. I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed if model B 's design may leave an exposed metal edge that scrapes against the rope as you lower a climber. I've tried it multiple rope diameters (10.0-11.0) and brand new ropes and older ropes. All ropes made the same scraping noise during lowering of my climber using model B . The older ropes left more frayed pieces inside the belay plates (as expected).
