Hi all, Have anyone here climbed at Rio de Janeiro? I go there in a week and wonder if I need to bring the trad rack... The areas I'm interested in are south face of Corcovado and misc. routes on Pรฃo de acucar. Are there enough good bolted routes? Many thanks, Manne
Hey Manne, I live in Rio and i can tell you that there are lots of bolted routes on Pao de Acucar and a few on Corcovado. Even so, i would bring trad gear, because there are some really good trad and mixed routes on both places. Hope this helped, Pedro
Manne,
I'm looking for someone to climb with in Rio on the 30th of June. I have never been there before. I can lead 7b sport or 6a trad. Let me know if you are interested as soon as possible, because I'm flying out tomorrow evening. Juan
Well, I've been climbing the very nice and not so difficult via dos italianos and to top out continuing with the cavalo loco. they are both bolted, as there are a lot of oters, but this does not mean "good bolted" from a european point of view. especially in cavalo loco it would be nice to add some personal gear. but it's an awsome experience to top out one of the most known hills, looking to the sea at your left and right and having rio in the back. anyway, there is a guide for Corcovado and Pรฃo de acucar existing and there seem to be really good climbing in the surroundings of rio. have fun, chrescht.
