Dear Prof. Censor, Compared to my experiences with other forums, the moderator's reaction seems to be a bit overblown. Maybe your comment(s) were off the topic? :)
It is a well known fact that on 8a.nu three things have been common over the years: Deletion of posts without marking them. They just disappear. Sometimes they have been rude, sometimes it remains totally unclear why they have been deleted. Sometimes they seem just not to appeal the webmaster. Deletion of whole accounts without any prior notice and due to partly obscure reasons (e.g. see above). Modification of posts without marking them as "modified" On might get the impression that the holy webmaster does what he wants according to his own gusto. Not a good style. Some clarifications would be great, but it seems very unlikely that we'll get them.
Like four years we set up some forum ethics which we try to have the members follow. In some very few cases, some guys keep violating these ethics and thus accounts have been deleted. When news are corrected, the original piece is found in the forum.
There are 12 000 unique visitors daily and although there are less complaints compared to previous years, I do not think it is possible to have zero complaints. Anybody who want to help out can have an upgraded account.
Based on statistics, we are having the best year ever and we have never had more interest from companies.
As usual, you do not answer to the questions... Why don't you mark modified or deleted posts as such? In which sense the case of Prof. Censor above violates the forum ethics? Where are the original pieces if forum posts get modified as you just have stated? Btw, your forum ethics are so vague that they are close to meaningless. What exactly one have to do to get his post / account deleted? Your answer just confirms that you just do what you want.
Since quite some accounts have been deleted over the years, I can only recommend not to use you scorecard account for posting in the forum. This avoids a sudden loss of your scorecard entries. What a great situation. Especially funny: "there are less complaints compared to previous years". Was that serious or sarcastic? Of course it is like that if you delete stuff containing complaints.
I have tried my best to run 8a since 1999. I am sorry I can not fullfill all expectation and I am afraid I can not do much better.
As long as you do not systematically violate the ethics in a real bad manner we Will not delete Any accounts. For me it seems strange that some guys seems to have as their greatest interest to follow threads like this in stead of focusing on climbing.
Hi. On UKC Alan James deletes threads even if they don't break posting guidelines. Two times he has deleted posts of mine about LGBTQ+. He removed a threads about AAS and Scarpa Drago.
