weather will be warm, but there will be no snow, and i would think very little rain. i was there in autumn, and in the basin, the weather is very strange. i think it snowed twice, which was more then it rained over the month that i was there
um, winter will be very very cold, with snow right through the season. that said, if you keep warm, the friction is fantastic! ultimate temps for friction for CH is between 0 and 8 degrees, so if your not affraid of the cold, you should be able to crank like a demon. spring will be beautiful, with mild days, little rain and most probably no snow - however i never expected snow! but like i said earlier, the weather there is weird. we drove out of christchurch as it was pouring with rain, and up through porters pass, we could hardly see 10 feet infront of us. but as you drive up and over the pass, the weather clears and its a nice day with blue skies. the surrounding mountains seem to catch most of the bad weather before it gets into the basin
Autumn (Mar - May), Winter (June - Aug), Spring (Sept - Nov)
From all reports Mar & Nov tend to be the most consistant weather periods but friction
may not be as good as mid winter.
