hello guys, so i am going to germany for a few days and will be staying near kochel and allgau crags, saw quite a few boulder out there, so will definitely try to climb some, and i have a question. just looked for a guide book of some what and found out that Alpen en bloc 1 has those regions covered. along with magic woods, which i might need in the future. the question is where could i find a store in either munchen or numberg to buy it? thanks for the responses, would need the adress. :)
Never been to Kochel, but I can answer every question about the Allgรคu that you might want to ask...I'm not sure if Alpen en Bloc describes the whole Allgรคu areas Allgรคu. From what I see on their webpage it's only the sectors around Freidorf. Those are: Parkplatzwand, NePaPlaWand, Rockland, Maiselwรคnde. You can find all those as sectors in the database. All of those areas are Nagelfluh/Conglomerate, which offers mainly very very inobvious boulders, you won't find any "real" lines here - but some of the boulders have really nice moves and are a interesting contrast to sandstone and granit. BUT there are many more sectors at the allgรคu! Some of Sandstone (Kammeregg offers some really good but overgraded power problems up to 7a+, Malerwinkel has one amazing boulder ( that I think is the best of the whole region) and some of limestone (Vils is imo the best of those. pretty good problems up to 7c).if Alpen en Bloc does not cover those sectors, then I would advise you to buy the Allgรคu Block by Gebro Verlag. But as I said, I'm not 100% on this... There is also a quite good online topo on magic woods. never had problems with this one....
Hi Arturas, there are two good guidebooks for you, both from "Panico" "Alpen en bloc part 1" "Kochel guide book" (Boulders and routes) I can recommend both of them, as they are excellently done. In Munich you can get both guidebooks at the "Schuster" shop (5th floor). Schuster is close to Marienplatz in the centre of the city (Sporthaus Schuster, Rosenstrasse 1 - 5). Close to it (directly at the Marienplatz) is the "Hugendubel" book store. There the books should also be available, but not as sure as at Schuster. Bytheway, you should also pay a visit to Zillertal, which is just a 1,5 hours drive from Munich. Itยดs worth the drive ! Especially Ginzling and the Sundergrund. Have fun ! Roland
