I understand that bouldering grades are very subjective; thus, making conversions from Font. to Hueco a little difficult to interpret. I was wondering if anyone could give their opinion for Font. bouldering grades to Hueco in the 6a, 6a+, 6b, 6b+, 6c, 6c+, and 7a range? It seems that 8a is undoubtedly considered V11 and 8a+ as V12 and so on. But, for example, I've seen people consider 6c/+ anywhere from V3 to v6. Can someone lend their two cents?
man, i have searched a lot at this level between 6a and 7a, and i have found the best table possible click here. other tables say that 6a is v3 6b is v4, 6c is v5 .. but i agree that 6a is hard V2. so when you said: I've seen people consider 6c/+ anywhere from V3 to v6 well they are wrong... 6c/+ is a V5 , 7a is always V6 7a+ is V7 V8, i need some help with it, i think 7b can be soft V8, and 7b+ a hard one, V9 is always a 7C. i am open for all other opinions
I agree very much with what you said, especially that 7a is alway V6. I've mostly seen conversion scales say that 7b is lower end V8 and 7b+ higher end V8. Perhaps the same can be said for 6b and 6c, 6b is lower end V4 and 6c lower end V5, while the + of those grades is the higher end. Thanks for the link of the conversion scale.
You are aware that the problem arises that in each scale there are a different number of grades? Even if we take the assertion that 8a = V11 and 7a = V6, then you have 6 steps in the Font (7a, 7a+, 7b, 7b+, 7c, 7c+) to cover 5 steps in the Hueco (V6, V7, V8, V9, V10). Logic would simply tell us that there is cross-over in every grade. That a very hard V6 is closer to 7a+, and that by definition then, the V8 grade scale is equally represented by 7b and 7b+. The 2 assumptions here though are, that the baseline of 8a = V11, and the baseline of 7a = V6 and that each grade jump, in both scales represent equal level jumps (that is, the jump, gap or increase from V6 to V7 is equal to V9 to V10, likewise in the Font scale). If these assumptions are correct (or at least close enough) then it's no wonder there is confusion below the 7a/V6 level as there is a huge number of Font grades compared to Heuco grades, a ratio greater than 2 to 1? The link is good, but again, its a little grey at the edges, especially at the lower end.
