"Adam Ondra keeps breaking the "youngest ever to"-records. Three days ago he climbed Baby basher, at Kochel, a confirmed 8b+, and thereby became the youngest ever to reach this level. Adam is now #15 in the rankings with 11705 points." This is surely a great achievement. Congratulations. Unfortunatley the information is noch right. I know a Austrian Climber, who did his first 8b+/8c in the age of 14. Moreover, I expect that the ascent was no redpoint-ascent. Baby-Basher is 4 Bolt climb where it ist used to preclip the 3th bolt. So most of the ascents in the last years were Toprope-ascents. Please correct me if I´m wrong

Stoffei: Adam Ondra is eleven (11) years old. If your Austrian friend do it at fourteen (14) is true than Ondra is youngest. The rest of the story please clarify it to me. I don´t undestand.

In the page www.czechclimbing.com you can see photografs of Adam climbing Baby-Basher with NO precliped karabiners. You can find too a video of the child climbing the route without precliping karabiners (except karabiners cliped in the bolts, but thats another story). Remember, Adam is not the first child climbing an 8b+ route, is the youngest (knowed) climbing that grade.

Congrats on the route and the style. By the way: In the beginning of the 90's (first 4 ascents or so) Baby Basher used to be NO toprope-climb, so it's cool to see that the good style on it is coming back! Greetings, Toni

Stoffei: To be more precisly, Adam Onra did Baby-Basher in the Pink Point style, that is, the carabiners were pre-clipped in the hangers, but not the rope, what it makes a great difference with the tope-rope mode. With all this information, what is your opinion?.
