8a.nu reporting kid's hard ascents

Props to all the young crushers sending hard! Really impressive, what these kids are capable of! But to be honest, I’m not a big fan of 8a.nu reporting these redpoint ascends. Climbing at a young age (let’s say below 16) shouldn’t be so much about the grades. Fun and a great variety in climbing should be the focus. I think as a kid it’s really important and helpful for a long term progression to be rahter a good an well rounded climber than to be a super strong climber in a specific climbing style or one single route. But a 8 year old kid climbing 8b? Do we really need to know this? And the more important question to me: what would this do to me as a young kid reading that another kid of my same age crushes already 8b? People are always different. Some kids might be psyched, other kids probably would be totally demotivated. Therefore I would be happy if 8a.nu would not report redpoint ascents from kids younger than 16 years old. (Just as a suggestion)

If you’re really interested in these kid’s achievements I’m sure you can follow them/their parents on Instagram…

What do you think?! Happy for a constructive dialogue.

This seems like more projection of your feelers than a real concern for the "well-being" of kids on 8a. For most people including kids, no one is going to give a shit about what we put on our scorecard. If you were to use your logic, we shouldn't report kids in magazines or social media because climbing should be about the rock and you. Which I think is too far. I personally was a young kid adding my grades to 8a. I was taught it was a place to see your friends doing well all over the country and then it's a good place to record all my routes instead of a journal. It can be constructive and destructive all depending on the people you choose to associate with.
