Trapped nerves and outdoor season closing by !

Hello Doctor  I have had some problems with fingers going numb when sleeping, first 2 outer fingers.  Have been quite OK with this and tried some simple rubber band exercises but recently I felt very sudden and sharp pain which was followed instantly by numbness of thumb ,fore and middlefinger when pinching hard on a boulder route.  I felt it all the way up in my forearm and later on maybe even on the side of bicep and up to the shoulder. Later on my fingers are now kind of "tingling" / sparkling and the feeling in my forearm towards elbow is not really pain but heavy and somehow suppressing.   really unfonfortably feeling, especially when spring is coming and outdoor season is almost here :( Not really the time to be taking unnecessary injuries...Would be super grateful If you could help somehow when I am thinking now whether I should take a looong rest or maybe see a physiotherapist etc..  1000tack / cheers!  -Teemu
I don't know if this could help, but it might be worth a try http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTRcXeJ22ds http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjdmXp9w-xs Good luck
HiSound like an nerve entrapment most likely in the carpal tunnel (wrist) but could also be in the so called thoracic outlet in the shoulder I strongly suggest you to see a doctor about this Björn
i suggest to search about trigger points and especially in your scalene muscles in the neck.....start to learn about trigger points from whatever source you like and you ll fix many problems doctors will make them sound worse
I second what George said. Not about doctors making it sound worse but about the trigger points. It's amazing how pains in e.g. biceps can be helped or stopped by simply pushing certain trigger points in the back. I have no education or knowledge on this really, just something that has worked with friends simply with trial and error. But now a follow up question. Say someone first has pains in the biceps that can be helped by pushing trigger points in the back  What's wrong when these get so extensive that it feels like the whole body is getting electroshocks (literally looks like having small seizures) but the pain still clearly in the biceps? The more extensive shocks are during night, while pain in biceps can be felt during the day amongst climbing.
Thanks for all the great posts!  I´d assume if my arm is not going all blue/purple and theres only numbness and not that much of pain - then maybe I´ll try the self treatment first before going to see a doctor.  After googling for scalene muscles, thoracic outlet and  trigger points (which I am somehow familiar with) this all seems more clear. Especially articles about scalene muscles I´d recommend for everyone to read, real interesting things and a group of muscles.  Big thanks people.  ps. Shock the question you had - have you found any answer?
shock which part of the bicep is in pain?
