sustained wrist pain

Hy doc Im having pain in my wrist since a year (and no climbing since 7 months). The diagnosis is "irritation" of the "ulnaren" and  "radialen" "Kollateralbandes" - (i dont know those words in english - got them from a ). The situation got better in this period, but i doesnt heal properly. as it got better, i guess its not chronical. These days, the pain is coming and going, like oscillating.  Any suggestions how i can speed up the healing, or how i should deal with it? Thank u for ur time and answer,  best regards  thomas
Hi Thomas I would think this is more of an irritation to the cartilage than to the ligaments. I recommend you to try Eating Glukosamine in combination with an  anti inflammatory drug for 2-3 weeks and at the middle of this period start to strength train your wrist in deveation towards thumb and littler finger (consult a physiotherapist) björn
there is no evidence for glucosamine in large randomised trials unfortunately.NSAIDS (+painkillers in general) will just mask the problem. it would be advisable to get a proper diagnosis first , the wrist is one of the most complex joints in the body.i would like to exclude a more serious injury for example scapho-lunate dissociation or keinbochs disease (i would advise an MRI in consultation with sports doc, and still worth getting an xray)hopefully it will be something more benign that the physio can correct good luck bro!
thx for ur answers! i did an MRI, and the diagnosis was this irritation of the "ulnaren" and  "radialen" "Kollateralbandes"/ ligaments - so luckily nothing more serious! but still, it lasts for almost a year now and im curious if there are others experiencing the same... any idea what causes such an injury? greetings from swizzy
I have the same recurrent problem in the same part of my wrist.  For me it came about when I started doing a lot more PE training (intervals on a steep wall), thus growing the belly of my forearm bigger than it has been before.  It was helped a lot by doing reverse wrist curls, but now even this is being uneffective (though I started doing about 20-25 quick reps per set, which made a difference, and now am up to 40 reps per set, which doesn't seem to help at all.  This is with two back to back sets per hand with a 10 lb dumbell).  I also had pain in the upper part of the top of my forearm, which was directly addressed by the reverse curls.  Anyway, despite still doing the curls, I still can't seem to get my wrists to quit being twingy and unstable feeling, and it is clearly inflammation of the ulnaren region.  Any exercises, replete with recommended reps etc. would be greatly appreciated, even if the recommendation is just to increase the weight on the reverse curls.  Thanks :)  P.S. It seems to me to be a general muscular instability between the top and bottom of my forearm, so perhaps a couple of diverse exercises that build all the muscles on the top and side of my forearm would be most appropriate?  Anyway, thanks for any input :)
