Strange Shoulder Pain

Doctor, For the past month a have dealt with nagging shoulder pain while stretching.  There is no pain while climbing.  I notice a twinge of pain while reaching my hand up my back towards my neck, elbow pointing towards the floor.  With the arm at my side and rotated medialy the pain is noticable as well.  The pain is point specific and seems to be originating from the front of the shoulder.  The pain is sharp and mild in severity and almost feels good to be stretched in this position.  I also have much cracking and popping in both shoulders when stretching.   I recently took a full week off of climbing and the pain is still there.  Is it ok to resume light climbing for a while?  Is there any way to reduce the crepitus? Thanks in advance for your response! Luke
Hi Lukethis is most likely an inflammation in the Supraspinatustendon, stretching does help, you need to strenght train the "rotatorcuff muscles especially the supraspinatus. that is the oly way to get rid of the "popping" and in order not to get a more severe inflammation.Yoy can resume light climbing but should see a physiotherapist or sport medicine MD if you get worse.Best of luckBjörn
