Strange pain in MCP-joint and in middle finger.

Hi! I have pain in the metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joint in my middle finger. The pain comes the day after climbing and goes away after a few days rest. The pain is pretty diffuse but I've managed to locate it to the base of my middle finger. My whole finger hurts more or less upp to the DIP-joint. Much pain is felt on top of the PID-joint. There is less pain in half-closed to completely closed hand, and hurts more when hand is opened. The pain is very similar to a "locked" joint which you can "pop" to releave the pain but it doesn't work to "pop" the joint.
Almost all injuries like this go away if you rest for a couple of weeks. That's my experience anyway. I would recommend refraining from climbing completely, as "tough" as that may sound so don't try to climb lightly even. Also don't engage in any other activities that might put stress on your injured finger. I've had several similar finger injuries and some have taken over two months to heal completely.
