pip joint ganglion

Hi, I'm waiting for a doctor's appointment. I have developed a small ganglion on the side of the pip joint of my middle (longest) finger. The lump is small, not painful and just above the joint. I have no pain in the actual lump. The joint has been aching for a few days but is settling down. I should add that I have had pain in this joint in the past, but no problems recently. ROM seems pretty normal, maybe a little restricted at fullest contraction and a little sore at that point too. I have no pain most of the time. If I buddy tape and continue training on large holds after a few days, would that be reckless?
Hi No that would be the initial theraphy anyway. seeing your doctor he might decide on surgery or simpy injecting the ganglion with cortisone to reduce it The real question would be if this is a tue ganglion (a rollback of a tendon sleeve) or an extrusion of the synovial membrane (joint capsule hernia) The later would demand a longer cut back Best of luck Björn
Thanks, that's really helpful.
