Middle finger pain, proximal phalanx

Hi there, not only doe smy elbow hurt but I also did something to my middle fingers: After some reather extensive door frame hanging (open hand and half-crimp) due to a lack of real training facilities, I started to experience pain in my middle fingers (mostly left, my stronger hand). The proximal phalanx is sensitive to pressure; also crimping induces some pain inside the PIP; and pockets or other holds can create the painful pressure on the phalanx itself. I was stupid enough to ignore it for a while, only taping the prximal and medial phalanx to support the pulleys, and climbed on for another two weeks. But since it has not gone away (it got better though especially after treating it with voltaren gel) and I am forced to a rest anyway I was wondering if there is anything I can do do to support the healing? And what exactly is it anyway? I assuem an inflammation of the pulley? Thanks!
I got the same issue. My injury occurred a few years ago when slipping while holding a mono pocket. Took several months of healing no climbing/easy climbing. Last week I believe it came back. I got pain the day after a climbing competition. I believe it was caused because I crimped too hard on a small and overhanging hI have the same symptom as you. If there is any pressure on the pulley on my Proximal Phalanx it hurts. It also hurts if I crimp. But when I climb with open hand on small holds that doesn't give pressure on the area I have no pain what so ever.  I love climbing and I get sad when I don't climb! I got two questions here: - Is it a bad idea to use Voltaren for a longer period? (It says no more than 7 days without consulting doctor)- Is it a bad idea to keep climbing but only with open hands?
I've got the same injury two years ago because an overuse of my middle finger on mono's, and like Alexander the pain increase while crimping hard but no pain on open hand (sadly for me i'm weaker on this grip). I visit a phisio and it got better for a months (doing strechings and rubber-band workouts) but now it's there again like an old nightmare in spite of doing all the stuff the phisio told me.(My pain is located on the palm between the middle and the ring fingers, back side of the knuckles, and it seems that the main tendons are not damaged maybe some little ligament). Sorry i can't help but join in for the search of advise.
I agree it is most likely a pulley overuse inflammation- cut back use antiinflammatory gel (Voltaren) , keep up the circulation by freqvently squeezing a soft rubber ball. avoid any crimping at least 3 weeks se more in earlier forum treads Björn
