Losing weight

Hi Bjorn, I already asked this question before, but you must have missed it :) See the topic "anorexia is good for climbing" (title is a joke of course). I am very heavy for my height because of being overly muscular especially in my lower body. I am trying (with succes) to lose weight for climbing. From your presentation, I see that you have been trying the same thing, so I was wondering if you have any advice on how to lose local muscle mass in the legs. I already run 3 to 4 times a week, 5 to 10kms at a slow pace and of course I'm still climbing. I've been steadily dropping weight for almost two months now, went down from 76 to 71. I aim for a 500 kcal deficit per day, which results in a weight loss of about 0.5kg per week. I feel fine, fitter then before even :) My fat % is getting very low now, so the time for muscle loss has come. So again, any advice? :) Best, Armand
If your body gets his energy from burning protein from your muscels because of the kcal deficit, the body will burn the muscles you use the less. If you are still climbing hard the body will save all muscles which are eesential for hard climbing und will burn the muscles you dont use. Easy as that. So the way to go is trainig really hard to make sure your body is not losing the important muscles.
