Please help. Yesterday I did dynamic move using my heel. It resulted in injury similar to one you could sustain during uncontrolled split? I felt strong pain located in the upper posterior-medial site of my thigh, near the hip joint. Yesterday I felt pain in whole huge muscle on the back of my thigh, especially walking the stairs. It was most severe in the upper part of thigh, but it radiated down almost to the knee. Today the pain is weaker, but still present... 3 weeks from now I am supposed to go on my first climbing trip, for which I was training real hard for 7 months and I'm little devastated with possibility that I might not be able to climb. I don't mind the pain, but I'm worried that climbing might make this injury really nasty. What is it Doc? Muscle (hope so) or tendon? What should I do with it? Can I go and climb fogetting about the pain or will I hurt myself badly? Anyway I was plannig one month of rest due to some minor injuries, but not before the trip... PS: Sorry for my poor language, it is hard to explain some medical staff in english for me.
Hi this is proably a strain or possible a tear in the hamstrings (one of the 3 involved muscles, frekvent stretchin (even throug painful) , some lokal warming (hot pack), an an antiflogistic (voltaren) will help you train through it but count on feeling a bit fom this injury up to 8 weeks. A naprapat treatment coiuld be helpful as well.
remember if you don't stretch the tear will heal "short" and you well tend to pull it again.
Best of luck
Björn
