Chronic overtraining?

Hi Dr 8a, Here's what has happened: Between Chritmas and mid-January I'd been training pretty hard and not resting much, so by mid January i was pretty tired. Then rather stupidly i decided to try bouldering harder, was regularly doing font 7b to 7c; I had a few sessions on a font 7c+ over the space of a week. Then i felt really tired and decided to rest properly. I've been resting for over a month now and still feel weak (can hardly crank font 6c+), I've had muscle soreness mainly on my back, shoulders and forarms. Lack of fitness with jogging, high resting heart rate all the stuff that suggests overtraining syndrome I think. I'm feeling a bit disheartened at the moment because I don't have a clue when I'll be able to go climbing properly again. The muscle soreness has died down a bit, but my back and forearms are still feeling rubbish. HELP!! (I forgot to mention I've been under a lot of mental stress as well, exams and dissertation)
Hi RowanGood that you are taking this seriously - it is-Sleep - eat- drink and then climb only easy and infreqvently for at least 3 weeks - you could take a daily dose of for example "Berocca" to boost  Zink and Magnesium which often is depleted in these cases. I don't know your nutritional status but I will bet that you most proably should get som high quality protein  in small servings 5 timmes per day - it will help in the rebuild best of luck Björn
Overtraining can really last rather long and tend to reappear. You should really do nothing for as long as it takes. Even if it means 6 months or year(s). Best of luck
Alright cheers for the advice! I've been trying to get plenty of protein but not 5 times a day, will try out some Berocca. I wasn't sure if easy climbing would help since my shoulders were wrecked from carrying home the shopping the other week, was pretty heavy shopping mind! Hope this thing clears up soon!
