South Africans in Spain

Hola  A group of us will be visiting Spain for 2 months in Dec and Jan. Where are the best places to climb at this time of year? Will we be able to camp at these places? Should we hire a car? Thanks for the help. Andrew and the South Africans
Hola, I think one of the best may be Siruana in Cataluña In Malaga there´s another good spot, El Chorro, and in Madrid, for granite´s slabs and bouldering you can go to La Pedriza Bye
Hi there. I reckon that if you rent a car will be much better for you to travell. Here we have lots of different areas, the weather at that time of the year will be cold and rainy so you´ll have to move around. My advice, book the car as soon as possible because there are not so many rental cars nowdays here. The choice of the crags depends on your likes. If you like bouldering you MUST go to Albarracin (Teruel) there is a camping there, Santa Gadea (Burgos), El Escorial, Zarzalejo, Pedriza (Madrid), Larraona (Navarra) and all the crags in Catalonia. If you prefer to get pump the posibilities are almost infinite but I would recomend you El Chorro, as Fernando said, because is very easy to live there in the camping, the weather will be great as well. Have a look in this web to look for further information. http://www.escuelasdeescalada.com/lista.php?nombre=&lugar=&epoca=&tipoesc=DEP&roca= = Cheers.
Hi Andrew, That is not the best season to come...December/January is too cold for many crags. I would recommend then to look for south faced crags. Here goes my sort list: Alquezar Montgrony El Chorro Mula Gandia Check them out in the link that Unai posted. Regarding logistics, definitively you need to rent  a car,  and concerning the lodging you will always find a camping nearby. Good climbing!
there is a place similar to Spitzkoppe, i min full of franitic slabs and tecnical moves, it is called "La Pedriza" and is probably one of the most funny climbing areas near Madrid, you don´t car to arrive there. You have town, water and posibility of sleep in a cave underneath of the silent & nightly sky
in south, the logical thing would be to go to Malaga and Granada, in Granada are several crags you can go by bus from the center in a few minutes and then go on foot about 15 minutes, (cogollos, Cahorros, alfacar, montefrio) montefrio this a little farther. En Granada are camping, hostel ... from granada can go to malaga by train and to stop for climbing in Loja. The crag is next to the train station. Malaga direction, get off at the station of ''EL Chorro, the paradise of the climing in Andalucia, there are camping.etc..... do not need a car to move. ...   us are there
