| Gotham City (7a+) | Respecting my lack of gear experience, I took advantage of the opportunity to TR this climb. It's really good. Not as superb as Spring Break, but worthy. I onsighted the climb on TR but my climbing partner looked at the climb a bit closer to see gear possibilities. Spacey gear placements, is what it appears. Boulder sections in potential run outs. The climb essentially follows the face upwards. I avoided the arete because it looks soft and uninviting. :) |

| Spring Break (7a) | I don't trad climb often so I took advantage of the TR from leading Mister Masters, which shares the anchor. 1 TR and I cleanly led the route on my 2nd go, placing all gear. Even though I had climbed it once, I didn't climb it on TR thinking I would lead it so I didn't pay attention to possible gear placements. And, since I onsighted the climb on TR, I basically didn't remember much about the climb on the 2nd attempt and had a scary moment when I thought I was going to blow it and couldn't seem to find a good stance to place a piece, but it all worked out and I finished it. This climb is fantastic and definitely worth doing, even simply on TR but for full value, it's a fantastic lead. ps. If this was sport, I'd say a redpoint because of the TR, but jumping on a gear lead was essentially me knowing something about the route and nothing about how to climb it on gear. Psyched to get it clean on the 2nd overall go. |
