| Avalanche Gulch (2) | Good old fashioned mountain climbing. Classic slog. 12.5 hours car-to-beer. Over 7000' elevation gain. Summit at 14179'. Chris hobbled up there on one leg. Crux was the downclimb through red banks followed by 2500' glissade to Helen Lake. Probably would have been more enjoyable to camp at Helen Lake but happy we did it in a day. Nearly went snowblind. Beautiful mountain! |
