The Póvoa de Lanhoso region is locates to the east of the district capital, the city of Braga, right in the middle of the Minho province. It is bordered on the west by the Carvalho mountain range and on the east by the São Mamede mountain range, between the river Cávado in the north and the river Ave in the south.
