When Berdorf is wet and cold, Igel can be a good alternative. Conditions are ideal on cold and sunny days. The polished limestone makes for tricky climbs, even at the lower grades. The routes range from 5 to 12 meters in length. Classics include H0 (5c), Leukoplast (6b handcrack), Techno (7a/+) and Minimum (7c+).
Access
after big problems in 2007, Igel was about to get closed. Access is now restricted to members of the responsible "Alpenverein Trier", who worked hard that it stays open, as well as members of other "Alpenvereine".
