The only surprise among the females in the Boulder World Cup in Hachioji, Japan, was that Margo Hayes did not make it to the semifinal Top-20 as well 15 Japanese failed. In total just four Japanese females made it through.

Among the males, eight Japanese male were within the Top-15 and also five from France made it to the semi. The big guys that did not make it to the semi were: Kruder, Gelmanov, McColl, Hojer and Stranik.
