Saalachtal - A forgotten hardcore area

Bernhard Schwaiger has opened some 60 boulders in Saalachtal, Austria between 8B and 8C but most of them have not been repeated. As he works as a principal he seldom have time to travel but Berni actually made the first repeats of the classics Anam Cara and Memento. As they were done fast he gave them both personal grades. Here is an interview from 2009. "I don't know exactly why the most of our hard FA's are not repeated - it's definitely not the access! A lot of people know where problems like “Zunami” or “Flying Circus” are. I´ve already answered a lot of e-mails and met a lot of people describing and showing the locations and problems ... A lot of other also strong climbers know where the problems are and often talked about trying/visiting them!?" Last year a topo was published including some 150 problems.
