Flatanger - Hospitality and scenary as it's best

Saturday, 7 July

Flatanger is an old fisherman district located some three hours north of Trondheim with a huge climbing potential whith possible the largest caves in the world. The development started some 15 years ago but it all kicked of when the Norway Bolting Fund did get involved and got the OK from the landowners, 15 months ago, living just below the cave. We have had so much fun and all the climbers are so nice and some local teenagers have actually started to climb which is nice as there is not enough kids for playing fotball here any longer, says Berit Hestnes who lives together with Olav Strøm who is raised on the farm. Last week they had 220 climbers living at their farm as the Norway climbing Federation celebriated 20 years and many top climbers were invited. Some 80 new easier routes were bolted open for anyone to make the FA. We plan to start a low budget camp and it would be fantastic to see nice climbers in action on our backyard. You do not need a car. Just take the bus from the airport and the last 50 km, all the way to the farm, a rural sponsored taxi charges you 9 Euro.
