Estado Critico 9a by Sonnie Trotter (35)

Sonnie Trotter, one of the leading trad climbers in the world who did the FA of Family Man 8c last autumn, has climbed his first 9a, Estado Critico in Siurana. Sonnie is 35 and he did his first 8c+ 14 years ago. "I have a one year old son now, who keeps us up most nights and so climbing or training for climbing has been very difficult this year, in fact, I don't think I am in the best shape ever, I just haven't tried very many hard routes before. In Canada, we don't have as many of these kinds of amazing sport cliffs. But I do a fair bit of hang boarding at home when I can, and I most love to train on a 45 degree wall with small wooden holds at my friends Shed. I hope to step it up a lot this year though, 12-14 hours a week would be sweet and I'm looking forward to climbing in my homeland of Canada this summer, I have some incredible projects. Next year if we could back I think I'd like to see Oliana and spend more time in Margalef."
