open hand? climbing

I mostly crimp but have read/heard that open hand can be just as strong, and reduce risk of injury..do any of you climb mostly open hand? if yes how hard can you climb?
I am sure there are routes out there who are at least 8c+ and all moves are open hand. I am sure that some world class climbers only climb never crimps. Good luck :)
Hi, I usually never do a closed crimp because it always feels like my thumb is too short and I hardly ever can get any extra power from closed crimps. So most of the time I'm either climbing fully open hand with just 3 fingers on the hold or open crimp with all fingers but the thumb on the hold. Just hanging on a hangboard, so just being static, I feel like I can best hold myself in the fully open handed style, but in climbing or bouldering, when I have to do dynamic moves, I prefer open crimp. My hardest Red Points are a few 8a routes and I have also done 1 8A boulder.
Sonnie Trotter once said he's never seen Sean McColl close crimp, so, pretty damn hard: http://sonnietrotter.com/2008/12/20/oh-the-irony/
I almost never crimp, my finger just do not bend enough :-)
