question about scorecard points

Hello I'm new here I just have a question about the points and the scorecard. From what I understand you should get some 1000 points for every redpointed 8a in the last 12 months right? So how is it that people in the top of the list only have some 12000 points even if they put up some 30 routes 8a or harder? shouldn't they be at around 50000 ? it just came to my mind because I am proud owner of some onsighted 5c and toproped 6a ... and I already have 4000 points. Am I getting something wrong?
