Many say that Kalymnos is the best climbing destination in the world. The good news is that it is getting better year-by-year as several new amazing sectors are beeing developed out of which some are more or less in the shade the full day. At the neighburing island, Telendos, a much bigger cave compared to Grande Grotta has been found where you actually can do a 3-pitch very steep 7a+! It has also been said that there is less tourists in 2012 due to the economical crises and that goes for climbers as well. The prices are still very low for studios starting at Euro 20 per night and that includes a veranda with amazing view. The restaurants serve dinner from Euro 5. During 28-30 September, the annual climbing festival orginized by The North Face will take place including many of the best athletes in the world who will compete on a newly developed sector. 8a is a media partner.(c) Chris Boukoros
