Eiter & Ramón Win the Arco Rock Master 2012

Ramonet and Angy kept their morning positions in an afterwork final which was finally respected by the rain. This means the 7th Arco Rock Master title for both of them, if we count last year's World Championship. Pics: Ignacio Sandoval Burón. Ramón climbed with absolute security from the begining till the end of a route which had been topped out by the Austrian, Schubert, before. They got untied by the Spaniard's best result in the on-sight route this morning. Third was the Dutch, Jorg Verhoeven, who stepped up a place from this morning's ranking, in a way, thanks to the unexpected slip and fall from Ondra a few holds after the midway rest. Angy Eiter climbed again in a superior style, clipping the anchor for the second time today and, therefore, added a new gold medal to her list of achievements. After her, there was another Austrian in the podium, Schranz, and the Russian, Malamid, who was not among the masters in the beginning but earned her place after the open competition. More bad news among the girls since Alizée Dufraisse asked the belayer to tighten the rope a few meters from the start, due to an injury in one of her wrists. 1 Ramón Julián ESP - 1 Angela Eiter AUT 2 Jakob Schubert AUT - 2 Christine Schranz AUT 3 Jorg Verhoeven NED - 3 Evgenia Malamid RUS
