Margo on 2nd place?
Can't remember any remarkable ascent of her in 2018 and her intl. results are:
10 IFSC Climbing World Championships - Innsbruck (AUT) 2018 06. 09. 2018
21 W O M E N lead: IFSC Climbing World Championships - Innsbruck (AUT) 2018 06. 09. 2018
60 W O M E N speed: IFSC Climbing World Championships - Innsbruck (AUT) 2018 06. 09. 2018
33 IFSC Climbing Worldcup (B) - Vail (USA) 2018 08. 06. 2018
35 IFSC Climbing Worldcup (B) - Hachioji (JPN) 2018 02. 06. 2018
37 IFSC Climbing Worldcup (B) - Meiringen (SUI) 2018 13. 04. 2018

This polls are useless, they only show bad memory and where majority of voters come from.
But, of course, it only take 5 minutes to publish such a poll and it takes much more to write a decent analysis of 2018 comp and outdoors season...

Margo over Piltz and Nonaka shows how EEUU marketing is just insane...
Michaela Kirsch in the list is directly a joke,... meanwhile in europe unknown female climbers are sending 9a's...
Same inthe Male list with D.Woods... japanese and spanish climbers are sending triple 8cs than him in the last year, but of course, he is american...

Daniel Woods climbed 5.15b and multiple 8C+s so I think its warranted. Though the site may have more American users which obviously get more exposure to american climbers

What Europe's unknown female climbers were sending 9as in 2018?
Julia Chanourdie did Cabane au Canada and Molasse'son. Manon Hilly did Era Vela. Laura Rogora did FA of Sitting bull. Those three are definitely not unknown.
Then Katherine Choong did Cabane au Canada, but that's one person and one route.
Ps.: That means that rock wise the "title" should probably go to Julia.

I too feel like these polls are a little silly with just the names up there and trusting the voting public to be totally informed of each climber's tick list in 2018. I mean the names aren't even hyperlinked to the their 8a.nu scorecard (if they even have one). Each climber should be listed with at least 3-5 accomplishments from the past year. If that takes up too much space on the main page then have the list of climbers posted there but only a link to a place to vote where climbers are listed with their accomplishments and voters have a chance to make a more informed selection.

I think it just shows that climbers - at least the handful voting here - still value achievements on rock more highly than achievements in comps. Which I personally think is a good thing (even though I voted for Janja)

People don't remember the exact dates of things. I just think of Margo's two 9a+ ascents as "recent", and wouldn't have been able to say if they were in 2017 or 2018 without checking.

Don't forget some other's 9a's in 2018:
-- Janja Garnbret did La Fabela pa la Enmienda 9a
-- Page Claassen did Algorithm 9a
-- Babsi Zangerl did Speed Integrale 9a.

But the point is most of the best climbers don't devote much time to outdoors (e.g. think about what Anak Verhoven did when she spent two months in 2017 outdoors... or Janja during her Christmas vocation).

@JHL - Perhaps more impressive for me was Babsi's second ascent of Magic Mushroom! She definitely deserves to be in the running.

Although title 'best climber' is confusing, I believe we were talking about sport climbing/bouldering, not about trad, big wall, alpine, drytooling, ice etc.

But anyway, MM might be impressive, but I don't believe you must be a 'better' climber for it then for 9a sport. El cap 8b+ was made in 1993, but no woman was even near 9a at that time...
