Chromosome X 9a (8c+) by Alexander Rohr

Alexander Rohr, who previously has done four 9a, has done Chromosome X in Charmey giving it a personal grade of 8c+. "Unfortunately fell in the last hard move in my second go and again in try 3 and 4 yesterday..... 2 degrees is just too cold! Did it first try today.... Never 9a but a good route and a cool resistant style on small holds..."

In regards the two different sequences to the right by FA Pirmin Bertle and first repeater Illya Bakhmet-Smolenskyi used to the right, Alexander find a method in between. He also says that Chromosome Y, which Adam Ondra flashed, feels harder.

Maybe we grew tired of arguing about (half) a grade :D

Well, with grades it's difficult, they are no exact science, route suiting one more can suit one less so grades are to some extent personal etc. Certainly route being downgraded by another climber doesn't mean the grade isn't right and it doesn't mean the climber should be ashamed. On the other hand, it's another Pirmin's downgraded route, so one can't blame someone asking whether grade is right and whether Pirmin doesn't have tendency to overrate his routes. It's important to realize that asking such question doesn't mean you have something personally against Pirmin or that you are hater etc. It can happen to anyone (to overrate some route), right?

Well said Jan. Constructive criticism should always be welcome but there have been many personal attacks against Pirmin (and other climbers) and that is something I feel obliged to speak out against.

@Sebastian well, I don't know what personal attacks you are talking about so I can't give my opinion on it.

Anyway - generally speaking - sometimes people have tendency to perceive even constructive criticism as a personal attack. That is not right, too. If I remember correctly there was some overreaction on people criticing Pirmin overating his routes.

Well, I remember things like "liar lizzard" and calling every news about Pirmin "fake news". That's far from constructive and does not help the cause / topic.

@Sebastian That's of course wrong. Anyway to perceive constructive criticism as personal attacks os wrong too, though. Or I remember someone calling out haters when there were no hating comments. That isn't good, too.

Yes, that is true.
