Eight months after a 15 m ground fall, Rannveig Aamodt has done a personal personal best with three 8a's at Railay. "I laid on the ground in a bobble of light, and I thought, wow, I´m dying... and then I thought ´No, that is to early` after that the pain was overwhelming, and it all became a battle.. fighting to stay awake.. fighting for my life. Here is Rannweig's story with amazing pictures by (c) Terje Aamodt.com

She was born in 1984 so she turns 29 this year. The accident was human error, neither gear nor rock broke, some kind of rethread mistake on her part unluckily. http://www.norsk-klatring.no/sikkerhet-ulykker/Glad-for-aa-vaere-i-live

Thanks. Unfortunately I don't speak Norwegian, so I won't be able to read it.

If the problem was an unfinished/faulty knot, her belayer is just as well to blame. ALWAYS check each other!

Climbing, you know, is fun and games until somebody dies.

Why is it more interesting to discuss failure rather than a great comeback? Don´t say its about learning....

@ peter.. Its more about getting a complete picture. If you start reading a book, you don't skip the first 20 pages either right? The first section isn't necessarily more interesting, but provides background and eliminates the obvious "how's and why's" from the story.
